From a Small Academy to a Movement
Hope for Kids (Ithembalabantwana) began in 2013 as a modest netball academy in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The founders adopted five schools, introducing learners to netball and training educators to continue the sport within their schools. Weekly leagues on Wednesdays and Fridays encouraged children to participate, creating a structured and engaging way to stay active.
Over the past 12 years, the programme has expanded to more than 50 schools, reaching thousands of young people. Many beneficiaries have excelled both academically and in sports, earning scholarships and bursaries to further their careers. Our work has been nationally recognized, showcasing the positive impact we have within the communities we serve.
